Makeup brushes are wonderful tools we use on a daily basis to enhance our natural beauty, but these tools can easily become carriers of bacteria and can lead to acne without proper maintenance. In addition to using a daily cleansing spritz (I love elf's brush cleaner), I deep clean my makeup brushes once a week to ensure that I get rid of all the built up dirt deep in my brushes.
You will need the following items:
-Coconut oil
-A small shallow bowl
-liquid soap
-paper towel
-a small hand towel
Instructions:
- Pour a tablespoon of coconut oil into the bowl.
- Pick out the liquid soap or baby shampoo of your choice. I prefer a moisturizing soap so that it doesn't dry out the bristles of the brush.
- Add a tablespoon of the liquid soap to the bowl.
- Stir the mixture together and add a few drops of water so the mixture isn't too thick.
5. The mixture should look like this.
6. Dip the brush in the mixture until it is fully covered.
7. Swirl the brush on the palm of your hand until most of the makeup
is on your hand, rather than the brush. If there is still a lot of
makeup on the brush, rinse the makeup off your hand and continue to
swirl the brush on your palm until there is almost no makeup on your
palm
8. Rinse the remainder of the makeup out of your brush by running water through the brush.
9. Lightly tap the brush on a paper towel until it is fairly dry.
10. Fold up the small hand towel and let it rest on the towel, so that the brush can drain out and dry properly.
It's as simple as that! How often do you clean your brushes?
